Urban Intellectuals Preserve Folk Heritage
Even today, ages-old folk culture can serve as a basis for collective identity by bringing together people who share this interest and underlying values, as evidenced by Russia's folk heritage movement. According to Rostislav Kononenko, Senior Lecturer at the HSE's Department of General Sociology, and Evgenia Karpova, Master's student at the HSE, the folk heritage movement in Russia is driven by urban intellectuals working to preserve and promote authentic folk culture.
Lessons in Finance at HSE's April Conference
On April 9th and 10th, HSE’s School of Finance is organising several new platforms of discussion as part of the XVI April International Academic Conference. Topics will include measuring and assessing companies’ intellectual capital, research on corporate financial decisions, and for Russian and foreign post-graduate students, the second annual PhD seminar on financial markets and corporate financial policy will take place.

Oksana Sinyavskaya is Associate Professor at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs and a leading Research Fellow at the Institute for Social Development Studies, Centre for Studies on Income and Living Standards. She will be giving a paper at the XVI April International Conference on Economic and Social Development about the problems of ageing in Russia. Maxim Oreshkin, a graduate of the HSE Faculty of Economics has been appointed Deputy to the Head of Russia’s Ministry of Finance, Anton Siluanov.
HSE Design School Students Win the Skolkovo Hackathon
A team of first and second year students on the Communication Design and Animation course, backed by senior Web Design students, has won the three-day hackathon Robodesign at Skolkovo. They produced the best results in the Graphic Interface TRIK Studio and Artistic model making categories.
Student Initiative Competition Winners Announced
There are 14 student project winners in the second student initiative support competition. This year, for the first time, entries included projects from the HSE St Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Perm campuses.
Global Expert to Speak on Advances in Neuroeconomics
On March 25, Samuel McClure, Assistant Professor of Psychology at Stanford University, will give a lecture called ‘Neuroeconomics: Cognitive and Neural Processes in Delay Discounting’ at HSE.
